Review: The EDGE Of Trust
By Kathy Altman, USA TODAY
For three years, dedicated covert agent and former SEAL commander Dillon Caldwell worked undercover as security adviser for drug czar Rafael Sanchez, head of the Sanchez Brothers Cartel (SBC). But someone deliberately blew Dillon's cover, and his family paid the brutal price. Dillon's wife, sister and parents — all killed in cold blood. Now a vengeance wilder than the jungles of Colombia drives Dillon to hunt Sanchez down and dispense some personal, one-on-one instruction in all the ways a man can be made to suffer.
But someone who knows about Dillon and his black ops mission continues to undermine him. and he's determined to find the leak, no matter the cost — he is, after all, a man with nothing left to lose. Then Dillon's "risk everything for the sake of retribution" attitude is shaken when he makes the mind-blowing discovery that his wife is alive. Somehow she survived the explosion the FBI claimed had killed her. Except — she doesn't want anything to do with him. It's bad enough that for over a year she kept her survival a secret. But even worse, she has something the SBC wants — something the cartel is willing to kill for. Has Dillon rediscovered the wife he loved more than life itself, only to lose her all over again?
Sara Caldwell doesn't know this man who used to be her husband. Before the explosion, before the FBI persuaded her to go into hiding, her marriage had already begun to unravel. Dillon had grown much too close to his target's wife and daughter — the photos Sara received from an anonymous source had made that perfectly clear. But she'd never meant to make him suffer — the FBI had assured her they'd told Dillon she was alive. But they hadn't, which explained why he'd never tried to contact her. Not that it matters. With Dillon, the mission will always come first, and Sara has finally accepted she deserves more than that. And wasn't it Dillon's obsession with annihilating the SBC that jeopardized her life — and their future — in the first place?
Still, he deserves to know her secrets. All of them. Even the ones that will make him hate her forever, because too many precious lives are at stake. But with the bloodthirsty SBC stalking them, will Sara ever get the chance to let Dillon exactly how much he's risking?
If you're looking for a darkly thrilling read as unpredictable as it is emotionally wrenching, look no further. With The Edge of Trust, KT Bryan deftly delivers all that and more. Both the plot and the characters are gritty and layered, the story's intensity rising with every turn of the page. The book can be graphic at times, but the brutal edges are softened by Sara and Dillon's poignant recollections of more innocent, remorse-free times. These memories provide a stirring contrast to the overpowering feelings of hurt and anger that shadow every interaction between Sara and Dillon — even when they're running for their lives. Bryan had me asking myself over and over again the question that signifies a gratifying romance: How in the world will these two ever end up together?
Dillon's journal entries, recorded during his time spent undercover, were my favorite part of the story. In the midst of the couple's agonizing over whether their marriage is dead (while dodging bullets and jumping off cliffs), these snippets written by Dillon reminded me how much he cared for Sara, since he wrote them for her. Not only because she's a journalist always on the lookout for an exclusive, but because, before the revelations about his supposed affair, and before the explosion that ripped them apart, he felt close to her, and his journal allowed him to maintain that connection. I would have loved to have seen, at the story's end, some reference to Sara finding these journals, to reading them, and her reaction to this heartfelt reminder that Dillon never stopped thinking about her. Never stopped loving her.
The subplot with Sara's brother is an anguishing, exciting, unexpected complication. At first his part in the story seemed coincidental, but it didn't take long for the author to convince me otherwise. Especially at the end, when Sara's brother serves as the catalyst for the mother of all plot twists. Bryan excels at that — veering the story toward a road that isn't anywhere on the map.
Adventure, betrayal, revenge and redemption — trust me, you'll find it all in The Edge of Trust. And after reading this story you'll be as eager as I am to dive into the next book in Bryan's Team Edge series, The Edge of Honor. The hero is a Navy SEAL. Go ahead. Try to resist. Me, I'm not that strong. Because, you know, we're talking SEALs. Hooyah!

5.0 out of 5 stars Emotional Adrenaline-Filled Thrill Ride, August 8, 2012
By Tracy "One Good Book Deserves Another" (Fort Myers, Florida, USA)
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) This review is from: THE EDGE OF TRUST (TEAM EDGE) (Kindle Edition)
When EDGE operative Dillon Caldwell was given a mission to infiltrate the Sanchez Drug Cartel and bring down its head, Rafael Sanchez, Dillon figured it would be a long, grueling year that he might not survive. He had no idea it would be three horrific, gut-churning years, or that the price paid for his efforts would be a nightmare worse than abject failure.
Then, after his cover was blown, he watched in horror as his wife was slain in front of him. His parents were next. And his sister, who died, broken and burning, in his arms.
Dillon, wracked by loss and guilt, is nearly rabid in his hunt for Sanchez, intent on ending his reign of terror. What he finds along the way, though, will change everything Dillon thought he knew to be true. Washed up on a nearby beach, badly beaten and suffering from exposure, is the woman he thought dead for the past twelve months. His wife Sara is alive.
Dillon's stunned relief and joy are short-lived, however, shredded by the razor-sharp fangs of betrayal and kept secrets, scorched by the obvious disdain from a woman who may as well be a stranger. And if that's not enough, not only is Sanchez is still out there, but Dillon can't even trust the people he works for. Not when they kept the truth about his wife from him, not when someone on the inside burned his cover.
He's got a sadistic, murderous drug kingpin after him and someone from his own country betraying him. He's got a wife who is alive, but looks at him with loathing. And he's got the knowledge that, despite all best efforts, he has failed every single person he loved. Struggling with that burden is bad enough, but Dillon's plate isn't yet full. The stakes that he's played with for three years are raised higher still when he finds out that Sanchez has something of his, something Dillon didn't even know existed. And it's a game-changer in every way.
Sure, there is no shortage of like-themed romantic suspense out there. There are certainly elements in this book I've read elsewhere. It has a military flavor, of course, and the former Navy SEAL alpha male warrior, now an EDGE operative, with plenty of testosterone and a rabid sense of duty to cause and country. The Bad Guy, head of a Mexican drug cartel, is an extremely violent sociopath who is so coldly ruthless it's a wonder he doesn't defecate ice cubes. You'll surely recognize him, too, for all that type has been portrayed in everything from books to television to movies.
The plot, too, didn't have a whole lot of surprises in the direction it took or in it's major points...but how it was set up, fleshed out, and executed in full was superb. The fluid timeline, including moments of the past interspersed with current events, so often a stumbling block in books, was handled exceptionally well. Readers are treated to a fairly comprehensive view of the lives of the characters leading up to and including the real-time crises without once obscuring the main plot thread. Of note, I loved the passages from Dillon's journal, as it gives readers insight into the emotional price an undercover agent pays and how his character in particular evolved during his undercover assignment.
And when it comes to Dillon and his wife Sara as characters, we reach what, for me, elevated this book from a solid suspense read I really enjoyed to one of my favorite reads this year. Not only were they deliciously flawed and grievously wounded individuals (preferred for the depth it gives the characters), but their emotional baggage and all their issues were ripped open and exposed in deliciously gritty, brutal fashion, in actions and reactions, fights and fury, angst and passion. It wasn't always pretty, certainly wasn't traditional for a romance novel, but it was so damn realistic (within the fictional framework) that I was left shaken by several scenes, my heart in my throat and my stomach in knots.
Grief, confusion, betrayal, guilt, blame, shame, and worse...including ugly emotions that danced dangerously close to hatred, Bryan gleefully dipped her brush into them all and splattered them into the gaping, bloody wounds of her characters' lives. The result was a story-long evolution of a relationship, one that provided an unflinching and brilliant portrayal of two characters who used to love each other very much, then lost it all...or gave it away, and now have to deal with the aftermath of every painful choice and uncertain decision if they are going to have any hope of peace. Never mind absolution.
It was messy and harsh as hell, and made for some gripping, frustrating, and agonizing reading. I loved every second of it.
This definitely isn't a book for the faint of heart. Not only was the emotional gamut fairly harsh and unrelenting, but Bryan doesn't shy away from scenes of physical brutality either. While the majority of the book was fairly average for the genre in that regard, there were at least three scenes I can think of right off the top of my head that pushed the envelope. One was graphic enough and included subject matter that hit me hard, and I'm not a particularly sensitive reader.
I am a reader who appreciates Bryan's ability to create the sort of story she's written here. Well written and complex, taut and emotional, action-packed and exhausting, this series debut is the whole package. It's one of the best romantic suspense novels of this type that I've read and one of my favorite reads of the year. In short, wow. Awesome read.

KT Bryan doesn't just kick off her Team EDGE series with this powerhouse of a story, she fills it with rocket fuel and launches it straight into the stratosphere. Powerful writing, a hell of a plot, and two flawed characters thrust into one incredibly perilous situation after another are the backbone of this awesome debut. As in all things, the devil is in the detail, and Bryan proved herself adept and snagging that devil by the throat, slamming it down on the page, and introducing her characters to hell. Gut-churning emotion, sweat-soaking suspense, and so much action I felt like I needed a nap after, THE EDGE OF TRUST snatched me up and commanded my attention through every single white-knuckled page.Sure, there is no shortage of like-themed romantic suspense out there. The EDGE of TRUST reviewed by Wendy Strain
KT Bryan's novel THE EDGE OF TRUST (TEAM EDGE) certainly tests the borders of trust from both sides of the equation. When Dillon Caldwell accepts the mission to go undercover to bust a drug cartel, he must find a way to gain the trust of one of the most ruthless men in the industry, knowing he would play traitor. It is a mission that will severely test the trust he shares with his wife Sara, perhaps losing her forever in more ways than one.
As an undercover agent, Dillon has few options but to accept the mission to break up the Sanchez Brothers drug cartel, but his success turns into personal tragedy when the close relationship with his wife becomes strained.
As a professional reporter, Sara has a naturally curious nature and, because of her own past, a need to know what is happening around her. Between Dillon's dangerous job and Sara's tendency to become involved with dangerous stories, trust is vital to their relationship but difficult to maintain.
Dillon and Sara shared a storybook romance before his mission. He is the hero she always dreamed of, providing her with release from the abusive world of her youth, until he becomes engaged in secretive activities he can't share with her.
Dillon thought losing Sara's trust was the worst thing that could happen until an explosion rips them apart. Believing her dead, Dillon nearly follows her over the edge. When she reappears battered and bruised but alive a year later, will their earlier trust be enough to pull them through?
The action of the story is enough to keep the pages turning as Dillon and Sara battle against Rafael Sanchez and those in his employ, unable to trust anyone else and unwilling to trust each other with the information they may need to survive.
Going from the city streets of places like San Diego and Tijuana to the dense jungles of Mexico, the geography consistently plays a role in the action as well, forcing the characters to adapt and change between modern and primitive techniques, depending on one another whether they wish to or not.
Not only does the action see-saw through urban and jungle settings, but Bryan has also crafted a wild emotional roller coaster. Each believing the other has stopped caring and each pushed to the edge of their endurance, neither Dillon nor Sara seems sure just what the best course of action should be to keep the other alive, especially when friends and enemies begin to look the same.
There are many points at which it seems impossible for Dillon and Sara to retrieve their version of happily ever after. Their success or failure will depend on their ability to both identify and defeat the bad guy, but it might not be the bad guy you expect.
Bryan's writing kept me riveted to the story, often putting aside other work in order to find out what was going to happen next. The EDGE of TRUST is well worth the time invested.

A Few More Reviews from AMAZON:
By Avid Reader - This review is from: THE EDGE OF TRUST (TEAM EDGE) (Kindle Edition)
K.T. Bryan has created a new level in fiction writing. The author has combined an action thriller that will take your breath away with the suspense with a romantic love story . The characters are believable and likable. I found that although I hated the villains, I also found myself feeling some sympathy and understanding for some of them as I learned their backgrounds. K. T. Bryan has succeeded in putting the readers in every scene and allowing them to vicariously live the events. As more people discover this author's work it should find its place among the best seller lists and we may soon be able to watch movies based upon it.

While this is not my favorite genre, I changed it up a bit with this book. I am glad at did. The story grabs you quickly and the characters are believable and interesting. Like many, if not most action thrillers, the plot is twisty and mysterious. You often have to read on to really understand what is happening. And yet, it is not a chore to flip the next page. The plot is quite inviting. The world of special ops and drug cartels is foreign to me, but I suspect much of this kind of stuff happens in the world, especially given the navy SEALS work in taking out Somalian pirates, Osama Bin Laden, and the horrific things happening in Mexico. Moreover, the abundance of corrupt politicians in the world makes this book very believable. The situations are so far beyond what I can imagine for me and my family, but I appreciated the tensions and emotions the author created with friends and family in this book. The feelings were deep and moving as I read. I really don't have many action thriller books in my library to compare this to, but I will definitely be comfortable reading another KT Bryan book. Although I didn't encounter the powerful prose or vast vocabulary of some fiction, I was treated with a very good story line and a satisfying ending. Take a chance on this book...it is worth it.

Breaking the stereotype, August 20, 2012
By A. Sanders "Well read" (Maryland, USA) Review is from: THE EDGE OF TRUST (TEAM EDGE) (Kindle Edition)
This was an excellent book, full of action, romance (good and bad), and personal tragedy such that all readers will find many aspects to which they can relate. Before I continue with the praise I need to agree with other reviews that the jumping around in time in the first third of the book is quite disjointed and off-putting. I became confused as to what had actually happened, even with major plot elements, and the author should perhaps consider at least a time stamp for flashbacks, or some method of making sure the reader is not confused. I don't accept this confusion as a legitimate element of the writing, because it is intentionally out of order--like for example Pulp Fiction--without being CLEAR that it is out of order. So the suspense/foreshadowing is broken at least to a certain extent by this.
Well, now it looks like I have major problems with this book, but I do not! I just wanted to discuss writing theory a little bit on that point before moving forward with the rest of the review.
I was highly impressed by the author's ability to discuss stereotypically masculine "issues" such as special ops and violence, drug cartels, etc., given the author's gender. I was also extremely surprised to find out the author's gender at the end of the book, considering the main character and how often we are inside his head. I found the thoughts and actions, to a very large extent, quite reasonable and "accurate" being a man myself. The romance scenes as well showed a great deal of knowledge of how men, at least in my experience, think and feel about such things. Stereotypically, that is, but some of those issues are not stereotypes that are fully understood by the (stereotypically, ha ha) fairer sex.
Not so here! Excellent insights, great writing, cool action...I can't wait to read the second book in the series.
From the intro I see that main characters in Bryan's Edge novels all seem to have a haunted past with one of their parents, it's not something I can read about easily but I found the storytelling in those aspects compelling as well. They can so easily become cliches, but again that was not the case here. Bravo!

Trust me 'The EDGE of Trust' is a MUST read!!, June 4, 2012
By Leafs and Bounds - This review is from: THE EDGE OF TRUST (TEAM EDGE) (Kindle Edition)
Finding books lately has become a slight challenge for me. As of late, I really just wanted to get my hands on a good romantic suspense novel coupled with military or black ops theme-- it never seems like a tall order, but it is definitely becoming one. I've read and re-read the popular RS novelists, and last year I stumbled on Kaylea Cross and thoroughly enjoyed her work. I wanted something new, so I spent hours on the computer searching for something that would fulfill my need. Then it happened I found the name KT Bryan on a blog, clicked on the book, read the synopsis, and I lost all the evening hours possible to 'The EDGE of Trust.'
I've said it before and I will say it again, my favorite reading moment is when you start out reading a book expecting it to be an average read, but by the end you are completely blown over by how much you loved it. KT Bryan has done it! BRILLIANT!
This book had it all! It moved at probably the fastest clip I've ever experienced. I was certain though at some point it was going to hit a snag, but it kept giving and going. Bryan propelled this story forward, with an amazing ensemble of characters who endured so much, and packed it full of action and adventure it was an absolute joy to read.
Dillon and Sarah were both strong willed, stubborn characters, that at times frustrated me so much (in a good way) I wanted to put them in the penalty box. Dillon and Sarah's trials and tribulations were brought to you by one of the darkest and brutal villains I've read in along time Sanchez. I would feel remised in not declaring a secondary villain, Sarah's demonic father. Even though his scene was brief, and gave you insight into Sarah and her brothers childhood it certainly packed a punch! I wanted to reach into the pages and strangle him myself.
I consider it a sign of a good author when they ravel the reader into their web of adventure, deceit, loyalty, loss, and love. By the time I reached the end Bryan had me woven in, and gave me this bubbly excited feeling that wants me to sing this books praises and proclaim "It's a 10 star! Grab this book, and hold on! You're in for a great ride!" I simply can not wait until the next addition. My only hope is Bryan has a lot more to say, because I am ready to listen!

This is my first experience with KT Bryan and I was not disappointed. I read this on my Kindle and could not put it down. Right from the start the story is action packed and fast paced. Characters are well developed, believable and the plot is intense. The author has created an action thriller that keeps you on the edge and turning the page. KT Bryan gives us a story of drug cartels but draws us into a gripping story of a marriage undermined by misunderstanding, separation, and secrets; secrets that could lead to death. One moment you are cheering them on and the next you want to shake them and say 'just talk to each other'. Dillon Caldwell is given a one year under cover assignment to bring down the Sanchez Brothers drug cartel which turns into a three year sentence, with his wife, Sara, being pulled into the cartel's hit list. Rafael Sanchez vows to destroy everyone that Dillon loves. Dillon is trained to bury his emotions deep and just "get the job done", but after twelve months of thinking his wife is dead and then having her mysteriously turn up leaves him dealing with trust issues. Why didn't she let him know she was alive? Racing against the clock before Sanchez destroys again, Dillon and Sara are drawn into a deadly game of survival which takes them deep into a hostile jungle. I am an avid reader and truly loved The Edge of Trust. I have a new author to add to my favorites list. This is definitely one you wont want to put down. I can't wait for the second book in the EDGE series, The EDGE of HONOR.

By Sha in Oswego - This review is from: THE EDGE OF TRUST (TEAM EDGE) (Kindle Edition)
This was one of the best books I have read. It is the first book by KT Bryan that I have read, and I am looking forward to reading more of her books. I didn't know if I would like it at first, but after the first couple of pages I was hooked. This book had a believeable story plot and great suspence. It isn't so technical that it is boring and that was one of my fears. While reading this book I kept thinking, this would make a great movie. Read it,you won't be sorry.

I am not going to give a typical review by repeating what the description of the book is or tell you what happens. What I am going to say is I have read hundreds of books in the last couple of years alone and this book is in my top 3 of all time. The author really knew what she was doing from the beginning to the end of this book. She knew exactly how to bring you in and not let go. I would say if you like action, crime, drama and romance this book is for you. She does not overdo it on any of those. This book was fun, sad, happy and AMAZING! Put this on your read next list. You won't be sorry.

Pure enjoyable reading, May 27, 2012
By J. Frank (IL United States) - This review is from: The EDGE Of Trust: Team EDGE (Paperback)
This is one of those rare stories where it is enjoyable to read from start to finish. There are no "sections to get through" before it gets good. It is filled with suspense, real and believable emotions, and keeps you guessing until the end. It is one of those stories you can devour in a day if you have the time. I'm an avid reader of all types of novels, from sprawling epic "tomes" to simple newsstand paperbacks. This is one of those perfect books when you feel like something fast and engrossing that is not a "heavy" read, but more like sitting down to watch a good movie that will pull you in quickly and make you feel something. Highly recommended.

By EnglishMuffin - This review is from: THE EDGE OF TRUST (TEAM EDGE) (Kindle Edition)
In this novel Ms. Bryan combines suspense, action, and romance in a gripping and memorable story of two strong personalities whose marriage is undermined by misunderstandings and separation while their very lives are threatened by murderous criminals. As an avid reader for over half a century, I delight in discovering good books and always look forward to the next good read, but while savoring The Edge of Trust, I found myself reluctant to reach the end. It is a "must read," but be sure to start it when you can spare some time from obligations because it's really hard to set this one aside. I eagerly await the sequel and hope there will be an extended series involving these intriguing and personable characters.

RAVE reviews for KT Bryan, April 8, 2012
By Sandy Szarka - This review is from: THE EDGE OF TRUST (TEAM EDGE) (Kindle Edition)
This book was a gripping, edge of your seat, thrill ride and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a great read! I tried to parcel it out to myself, in small segments, like little bites of rich dark chocolate, to stave off the appetite, but it kept calling me back to read more! KT Bryan did a wonderful job of creating a world of intrigue, suspense, SEAL Team ops, drug lord violence, and family dynamics, all rolled into one super readable, fast paced book! KT Bryan writes with a very vivid, descriptive, eloquent, expressive, detailed style, that allows the reader to become engrossed in the story-line, and also picture, and empathize with, everything the characters are going through. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and am so looking forward to the sequel!! I read the teaser chapters and didn't want it to end. I will be watching for it with great anticipation!
Thank you KT for sharing your masterful talent with all of us! Keep up the great work!!

THE EDGE OF HONOR
From USA TODAY: Why you should read it: As menacing as the cover is for KT Bryan's The Edge of Honor, her villain is a trillion times creepier. Seriously, this guy's twisted factor is off the charts. He suffered through a savage childhood that goes a long way toward explaining his evolution from victim to killer, but what's truly fascinating is the clever linking of his past to that of another major character. This is one reason the book opens with a series of scenes in differing points of view, which I initially found disorienting, but it didn't take long before I'd attached to every character. Of coursethat made it difficult to watch them suffer, but it also made the ending all the more gratifying.
The Savior outsmarts and outmaneuvers Team Edge again and again, which amps up the tension like nobody's business. It's diabolical, how the author makes this believable—after all, Team Edge is a powerhouse of mad military skills—but Bryan pits them against the craftiest of adversaries. As far as the villain's identity? No clue here until I saw the reveal on the page. But the serial killer's not the only source of danger. The book opens with Navy SEALs under fire as they fight to evacuate a hot zone following a counterterrorism mission, and throughout the story the characters encounter bank robbers, muggers, underground gamblers and sinking boats. The action and intensity do not let up. Not even once.
And oh, the romance. Jake and Jessi are not only battling a madman determined to end their lives, they're battling their own insecurities, and a love that doesn't seem meant to be.
"Yeah, well, this cesspool," Jessi waved her hand in the air as worry played across her features, "shouldn't be your problem."
Her words rocked Jake back on his heels. "Not my problem?" He loved her, she knew he loved her and if she'd wanted to smear his character, she'd just done a stellar job.
Especially after what had happened last time— when he couldn't— when he didn't— when he hadn't been able to save her. Or even help her.
He closed his eyes. Swallowed. Took a couple of deep breaths. And then, when he had himself somewhat under control, when he was sure his head wasn't going to explode off his shoulders, he leaned over her and spoke with a steely softness, "Oh, lady, it damn sure is my problem. That's my baby in your belly."
A secondary couple kept me equally rapt, though their storyline is yet to be resolved:
"I don't have all day, Princess. Open up before your psycho killer spots me."
"Go away."
Aaron snorted. "I wish. Now, open the door." He banged again and Nikki's annoyance took a right turn toward temper.
She unlocked and opened the door a crack, leaving the security chain in place. "Look here, I don't care who—"
He snipped the chain with some nifty little tool, pushed past her, and just like that, he was inside.
Before she knew what hit her, he slammed her against the wall and the cold blade of a knife pressed against her throat.
"Tsk, tsk, Miss Edge. If I'd been the killer, you'd be in a world of trouble. Maybe even dead."
She brought her arm up and pepper-sprayed him right in the face.
"Ow! Dammit!" He dropped back two steps and glared at her through tear-laden, pain-filled eyes.
She gave him a smug look and rubbed her throat. "Uh huh. And if you'd been the killer, I'd say you'd be in a world of hurt. Maybe even blind."
The Edge of Honor is the second book in Bryan's Team Edge series (I was thrilled to watch the hero of The Edge of Trust in action again!), and it's one exciting sequel. Balancing the brutality is a welcome layer of wry humor and surprising sentimentality (I admit it, I cried). Bryan knows her guy-speak, excels in keeping her reader guessing, and creates one heck of a disturbing baddie. The Edge of Honor is a raw, dark, high-tempo thriller layered with delicious romance. It's a lot of book to read in one sitting, but trust me, you'll try.

The Edge of Honor is the 2nd book in The Edge series. I don't know how author KT Bryan will be able ro beat this book. It is great! It has everything in it: Suspense, romance, danger, heroes and anasty serial Killer. The story takes off quickly from the first page and just doesn't let up. It's rare when I'm not able to guess who's doing all the killing. Ms. Bryan kept me guessing untill all was revealed near the end. The characters were people I cared about and who were interesting. I kept wanting to know more about their histories and background. Ms. Bryan did not disappoint. I would definitely recommend this book!

WOW! I really love the Edge series written by a great author KT Bryan. We are taken to the seeing the beginning of a creation of a true serial killer monster. This monster is very intelligent and cunning leaving no DNA evidence. I consider myself really good at figuring out who the bad person is, but in this case, KT Bryan tossed me for a complete loop with a surprise that I did not see coming. If you enjoy a suspenseful good read then I challenge you to read the great book for yourself and test your skills at trying to figure out who the monster serial killer is, GOOD LUCK!

Bravo!
-Aaron

If you enjoy a suspenseful good read then I challenge you to read the great book for yourself and test your skills at trying to figure out who the monster serial killer is, GOOD LUCK!
~~
LOVING LOGAN
From USA TODAY:
Why you should read it: Loving Logan has a sweet, snappy, impish energy that makes for a fun, fast read and a solidly enticing start to what I hope will be the first of many stories featuring the O'Donlan family. Bryan's characters are pleasantly unpredictable — Logan is successful and smart-alecky, but he's also thoughtful, insecure and refreshingly ready to settle down and begin a family — not realizing he got a jumpstart on that eight years ago. Bailey is struggling with her own insecurities, which contrast nicely against her poise as an entertainer at her uncle's bar and her confidence as a single mother. Logan and Bailey are not the most respectful toward each other, but that seems to be their shtick — their love language, if you will.
Logan jerked back, teeth clenched. How could he have ever thought it might be possible to have an adult truce with a woman holding an eight-year grudge, and who still thought it was appropriate behavior to dump beer on someone? "Let me know if I can buy you another drink. Maybe get you a Midol."
Ouch. But don't worry — in this snippet where Bailey's giving herself a talking-to, you can see she doesn't fight fair, either:
No lies, Bailey. If he asks, dodge the question, change the subject, show him your boobs.
The reader knows right away how Logan wronged Bailey, but the author keeps Bailey's transgression an intriguing secret for a good half of the story. The truth is heartbreaking, in more ways than one. At times Logan and Bailey both tend toward childishness, and there's more stubborn in this story than there is Guinness in a pub, but you'll never stop rooting for them. And there's so much lovely smolder.
I especially enjoyed the Irish family feel — the overprotectiveness of Bailey's brothers, the caring and camaraderie and even the occasional skirmish. And Bryan's cast of critters will thoroughly charm you. Meet Bailey's adopted basset hound:
Bailey's gaze locked on Chumley, lying flat out, his extra skin pooled around him like a black and tan puddle, both paws draped melodramatically around an empty dog food bowl, with a look of injured reproach on his face.
See what I mean? Love, lust, laughter and the luck of the Irish — this heart-catching contemporary has it all. If Katie Bryan isn't planning to make Loving Logan part of a series, I just might have to start a petition.

A Romance Even I Can Like! By Duke of Earle on December 1, 2013 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. I'm a guy. I'm not supposed to get "into" romance novels, and in many cases I don't. Oh, I've read a number and really like Nicholas Sparks' work, but generally... romance... not so much. So why did this one really work for me?
Probably it was Ms. Bryan's ability to bring the characters to life. Logan and Bailey are real. Their thoughts are real (not contrived, as I see in many Romance characters), their reactions are just like those of real people, their dialogue is sparkling and witty, and you just HAVE to like them. I found myself pulling for them before I realized I was involved that deeply with them and their story.
I understand that the author considers this a romantic comedy. Well I chuckled, then guffawed, and then walked into the next room laughing to read to my wife some snippets I thought were really good. She laughed too.
Trouble is, Ms. Bryan also knows how to pull at your heart strings, and I had to wipe my eyes a few times to refocus on the page. Dammit.
Anyway, the Irish-ness of the pub and the Irish family who operate it is right off the auld sod. (I think Ms. Bryan's maiden name must have been O'Malley, or she was born in County Cork, or something. I was mentally hearing those characters speak in brogue!)
The passion smolders and flares like an Irish temper. The writing is just GOOD.
I don't give 5 stars lightly, but this book is worth the rating. I'm really looking forward to her next one.

The Magic of a Four Leaf Clover By The Kindle Book Review on January 23, 2014 Format: Kindle Edition The Irish are best known for their beautiful music, quick tempers and the love of pints and pints of Guinness. You get all of that and so much more in this sweet, charming, addictive Irish love story.
Bailey O' Donlan has been in love with Logan Mitchell for as long as she can remember. Logan is her older brother Greg's best friend. He has always viewed Bailey as Greg's "little kid sister"....that is until he returns home a few years later on a break from college. Now 18, Bailey is a total knockout. She has long beautiful red hair, sparkling green eyes though she still possesses her quick temper and sassy mouth. After one too many pints, Logan goes home to find Bailey in his bed. Sparks fly and a one night stand is created. Regretting his decision the next morning, he flees town and returns to college.
Logan relives that night in his mind for many years. Now 30, Logan is a wealthy, successful businessman living an empty existence. Eight years after running out on Bailey, leaving her without even a good-bye, Logan returns home with the hopes of winning back her heart.
Bailey's life has drastically changed. Over the years, Bailey has often thought of Logan. Each time she recalls that day "the coward" ran out on her without even saying a word, it breaks her heart all over again and she is filled with bitterness. A lot of this book takes place in a warm, welcoming, sometimes rowdy, quaint, family owned, neighborhood pub; O'Malley's. Bailey's great-grandfather built the pub over a hundred years ago. She has worked there in some capacity most of her life and has loved every minute of it.
Author Katie Bryan has created this story, using these complex characters in such a unique way, you feel like you are part of the story. You are just another customer at O'Malley's watching this emotional love story unfold.
I loved the Irish brogue used throughout the book. This story made me laugh out loud and I also shed a few tears as well. What an enjoyable evening I had reading this adorable book.

I typically don't enjoy romance novels, to be honest. Loving Logan was a surprising, and thrilling exception. Katie Bryan's characterization created real people in real life, and I felt as if I knew them in person. Bailey's emotions were real and raw, leaving me to comfort her, scold her, and like her ability to love a man who's own issues left him distant on the surface. Logan is a complicated man with deep passions. The comedy element of this romance was refreshing and well written. A true page turner with a deep element of wisdom mingled into the story. It left me wanting more, and I hope the author writes the next book, soon.
